Remember when employers used to take care of their employees, and most employees were so dedicated to their job that they stayed for their entire career? Well, apart from the progressive few (like Facebook), that doesn’t exist anymore. THAT is really the true crime of modern America…That we allow employers to milk every last ounce of value from their employees, and don’t mandate that they, in turn provide some level of security for their employees’ future.
Honestly, if we compelled employers to treat every employee as they do their management…same health and retirement benefits…we wouldn’t even be talking about #SinglePayer. Everyone deserves health insurance, but employers should take care of their staff…at least the middle to large sized businesses…Mom & Pop shops who would be overly burdened should be exempt/partially exempt.
You know…The ironic part is that over a 30 year career, the cost of re-training several employees, as well as the cost of diminished “job knowledge,” an asset which is lost to the company, far exceeds what they would pay to properly fund health insurance and retirement funds for one employee who stayed for the duration.
Businesses USED to know this…It’s cheaper to keep people than to turn them over…remember? No wonder customer service just about everywhere, SUCKS, and employees don’t give a rodent’s rectum [read: rat’s ass] about their jobs. Because they know their job doesn’t give a rat’s ass about THEM.
