Google search could legally block all Trump news entirely

Google can basically show whatever the fuck they want in their search results…unless they start skewing results to their profit at the expense of the competition. Then it’s not so much a free speech issue as it is a fair trade issue, regulated under commerce statutes.

“The First Amendment does not dictate that any non-government-run platform give any US citizen a platform to say or do whatever they want. The First Amendment does not require that Google allow any content in its search engine for any reason. I’m a huge proponent of solar in general, but I’m not a fan of floating solar. Aquasystems…the ecosystems of of lakes, ponds and even the ocean, are far too fragile. Robbing the lakes of that much surface area, creating artificial shade below it, could have catastrophic effects on the plant and fish below that depend on the sun for their existence.

15 fires burn across California

California is literally burning up. This is really scary…and could easily be one of the biggest natural disasters in history. Science says it’s cyclical…a natural part of the environmental cycle, which is fine except that we humans have interrupted that cycle. By our prevention of forest fires we’ve actually set the stage for these huge, uncontrollable fires to burn up the decades of litter that has been collecting unburned.
Of course, the extremely hot and dry weather is the real cause…the spark… and while how much we have to do with that is a matter of some debate, one thing is pretty clear: we should do everything we can to help prevent our world from burning all the human parasites from it’s fragile, life giving skin.
California often leads America toward greener, more ecologically sound solutions…prayers to all who struggle against the fires and for ecologically sound public policy in the fight to do the right thing about #ClimateChange

It took a bit to sink in, though eventually the tears started streaming…I was playing “Standing on the Moon” as I wandered around my wooded back yard on that sunny afternoon. It felt like the world stopped spinning that day…just for a second or two, and then started up again with a slightly different rotation. A new spin. One a little less imperfect and more refined, but with a whole lot less heart and soul.
Time makes victims of us all…but we’re never really old and in the way until we decide we’re lost for good.

Cory Booker’s lame excuse after holding sign critical of Israel

Perhaps someone should ask him directly what his stance is, rather than just berate him for being “critical of Israel”. There are many reasons to be critical of Israeli policies, but there’s absolutely no crime in striving for a world without walls and closed borders. Palestine and Mexico are just two places where the opposite is way too true, and divisions are being bolstered at the expense of innocent, good people.
I say kudos to Cory Booker.

The NRA Says It’s in Deep Financial Trouble, May Be ‘Unable to Exist’

Maybe they shouldn’t be so diametrically opposed to popular opinion and common sense regulations. Even many true gun enthusiasts are stepping back from the ludicrous and shameful platform in the face of so many tragedies. I’m personally a defender of the second amendment, but I cannot support the NRA and their campaign to make weapons manufacturers and dealers rich as our children are slaughtered, thanks to our unwillingness to ask a few simple questions…and check the answers…about ALL gun buyers. An intelligent nation would also mandate gun owners receive training, and take care to keep the privacy of gun owners intact from illegal searches and all snooping.
All these things are possible if we WANT them to be…but the NRA does all they can to BLOCK every effort. No wonder they’re broke.

Google Glass finds new purpose in autism therapy

Very cool. It doesn’t seem so silly to me…it actually makes a lot of sense logically, though I’m no spectrum expert.

I think virtually augmented reality is more relevant than plain old virtual reality…and more useful, once you get over the whole privacy concern issue. I have a feeling Glass will make a comeback.
