I heard the idea proposed that the Olympics be hosted by DEVELOPING countries, rather than wealthy ones. The concept is that all the olympic money would be dumped by wealthier nations, into economies that desperately need it, and MAYBE all the construction will be put to use after the 2 weeks of world gaming ends.
Think about it. Every 4 years, another small, struggling nation is saved from disaster by larger, wealthy ones…instead of wealthy nations building stuff that will be abandoned, abused, or destroyed after the games. Unbelievably wasteful when you think about it…so many could be helped.
