I’ve paid to play, and taken lots of lowball gigs, just to be on stage. NYC is the nexus of low paying and pay-to-play gigs, but I’m sure you can get screwed all over this wonderful country. I always figure it’s worth it…all just part of the business. But by accepting those shitty paying gigs, are we really just giving them permission to keep screwing the artists over?
