I can’t tell you how many times I pull up behind someone who has been driving like they have absolutely no idea that there are other cars around them…and find them using their phone.
Now, I’m not saying that people shouldn’t use their device while driving…just about everybody does it to some degree. No, I’m saying they shouldn’t be driving if they can’t use a fucking phone and still drive like they know how. Seriously. The answer isn’t laws restricting device use…the answer is making people prove they can still manage to operate that 2 ton killing machine while managing distractions.
Knowing when to put down the phone and just drive is part of that. Of course, there is no substitute for actual driving skills. Otherwise, if you can’t figure out how to drive and use your phone, take a fucking Uber.
